. rachael yamagata .

i'm on a music high.
i've found a new genre i love. not really new. i've always appreciated it. now i'm hooked. i blame emily.
it all started with brandi carlile. then it moved onto a little feist. then priscilla ahn. then the bird and the bee. now this.
i can't get over indie folk pop. yeah. it's the only way to describe it.
and i love it.
just found this awesome artist.

rachael yamagata

let her blow your mind.

. the bird and the bee .

a few years ago i got an awesome christmas song (carol of the bells) by this band.
i think i actually did a post of it during christmas. you'll have to back track and stalk.
anyway. the other day, my friend came over and we traded a lot of music. i mean...tons.
one of the songs she gave me was from this band i loved. and it so happens i've been getting back into this band lately.
this is getting too cryptic. meet.

this indie synth-pop band is awesome. if you like blow and you like imogen heap, mix the two together. and you have the bird and the bee

here is the cover i can't stop listening to. thanks emily. really.

{sorry about the lame vid. but the song is good.}

this is my other current the bird and the bee fave : la la la

. jaymay .

i have the sweetest friends, and we all love to share music.
as i was introducing new stuff to one of my friends, she told me to look up this song.
at first, i liked it. it wasn't annoying, but it wasn't incredible. . . and yet.
i couldn't stop singing it. in my head. out loud. to other people.
and now. . . i can't stop listening.
it's so good.

. cage the elephant .

life has been crazy!! i graduate in a week from today, and every day brings a new fun challenge to overcome. man, do i have stories to tell.
but for now, i'll just give you some new jamz.
i love songs with stories attached. not the same thing you hear over and over these days, just to a different beat - but a real story.
songs don't always have to be about love.
they can be funny, entertaining, sad, angry - you name it.
so here is one of those songs.
i'm not going to give much background on them, but this boy is adorable. i love the way he moves when he sings.
and this song will be stuck in your head for weeks to come.
every time i hear it or think about it, my friends and i just start singing at the top of our lungs and dancing around.

. brandi carlile .

i don't like country. ask anyone.
this is not a country post.
this is a folk-pop post. it exists. look it up.
brandi carlile

every time her voice cracks it gives me the chills. so beautiful.
check out the podcast on her on spinner - the interface on itunes. download it. it's free.
i can't stop playing her songs.
check out:
dying day
dreams
before it breaks
the story
but most of all...check out this song

that year

it's about her friend from high school. so good. enjoy some brandi.

:: she had a guitar, she taught him some chords ::

for my 6th birthday i got a purple camera with blue squares on it. my dad took me on a road trip across the USA and i took pictures of everything imaginable. i was hooked. time passed and i grew older and i forgot about my little obsession.
two years ago i picked up my little digital camera and realized how much i missed photography. so i got a summer job, saved up all my money, and bought a Nikon D60 SLR.
i haven't put it down since.
